CommuniCare, in partnership with Yale University, Department of Psychiatry, through its Yale Behavioral Health (YBH), offers an after-hours crisis response program called the South Central Crisis Service. Its core elements are as follows:
Telephonic Crisis Service
The telephonic crisis service provides the foundation for all crisis and community bed programs. This component offers clinical assessment and triage services to mental health and substance abuse agencies throughout the southern portion of region two.
Emergency Mobile Crisis Service
Mobile crisis services are offered 24 hours per day on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Ancillary Services
Regional Warmlines provide consumers with peer-based, after-hours support. SCCS partnered with Warmlines which resulted in an effective integration of clinical risk management into peer led programs.
Persons in Recovery Involvement
For the past several years SCCS has placed an emphasis on peer involvement, and employs a person in recovery who contacts clients to obtain feedback for quality improvement planning.
